Training to Keep Bees

Training to be a beekeeper is a time consuming skill that many take seriously because you have to share a passion for something that was once declared a simple hobby to which has joined the billion-dollar food market. When beekeeping is a not family industry, many new beekeepers do not have the experience that they need to learn, in terms of biology and what to expect when they produce good honey. Among insects, bees have some of the most advanced means of surviving winter. Bees have a lot of natural insect predators, and a keeper has to have a decent amount of entomology knowledge so they can prevent the wrong types of insects from being a threat, such as yellow jackets, wasps, mites, and hornets. Keeping a bee's habitat healthy and free of pests found in nature can be quite a chore and requires a good familiarity with science during training for a beekeeper. The education and training that are required in making a good beekeeper require the expertise of a person who is dedicated and serious.

Lots of people learn the skill through great-grandparents, grandparents, and parents, and believe it to be a way of life that's taught to children. Honey may have started out as a simple chore to do on the farm, but it eventually became something that was as marketable as produce, dairy and meat.
